2016 Catfish Capital Tournament and Fish Fry
Public event by the Burlington Rotary Club
The Burlington Rotary Club invites everyone to the second Catfish Capital Tournament and Fish Fry. Fisherguys and gals of all skill levels are invited to participate in the two day tournament. Participants and everyone from the public are invited to a spectacular meal, fish weigh-in and award presentation, games, and prizes to cap off the tournament.
Fishing can take place any time after check-in Friday, June 3rd at Noon until fish weigh-in Saturday at 2pm at the Rock Creek Country Club in Burlington. Registration is $30 for each 2 person team. Teams will aim to secure the biggest 5 catfish limit.
Whether you fish or not, everyone is invited to the fish fry at Rock Creek Country Club June 4th at 5pm. A meal of fried catfish (or chicken option) and fixings will be served for $10. ($5 for 10 and under) Following the meal, each team’s catch and awards will be presented.
New this year, youth are invited to a Fish for Fun event at Rock Creek Country Club. Participants will meet at 3:50 at the clubhouse and be escorted to fishing locations by event volunteers. Participants are welcome to bring their own poles, but extra poles will be available. Golf play will not be interrupted for the event. Prizes will also be awarded to youth for this event.
Burlington, Kansas has been known as the Catfish Capital of the World for nearly a century. Even today, Coffey County offers some of the best all around catfishing in the world whether you are fishing for yellow cats, blue cats, or bullhead. The Burlington Rotary Club is excited to host the tournament and fish fry for the purpose of celebrating our catfishing heritage and bringing people together for a good time.
